Pacific Northwest Drought and Public Health Workshop

January 19, 2022 and January 20, 2022

The Pacific Northwest Drought and Human Health Workshop will be held on January 19–20, 2022 at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. The workshop is tailored around regional drought-related human health impacts and will help identify gaps and needs, collaborative opportunities, and ways to integrate the health sector into existing drought activities.

The National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) is co-leading the Drought and Human Health Workshop with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, along with a number of Pacific Northwest partner organizations. The audience for this workshop will be state and local public health departments, climate scientists, emergency managers, tribal communities, and healthcare providers.

 

The workshop will take place over two days:

  • Day 1: January 19, 12:30 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Day 2: January 20, 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccine is required for attendance. Masking and social distancing will also be utilized during the workshop to reduce the risk of transmission. Workshop organizers are carefully monitoring the COVID situation, and if a decision is made to cancel or postpone the workshop, registrants will be informed promptly.
