Join Senator Harry Reid next week for a free virtual conversation celebrating the premiere of the new documentary “The New West and the Politics of the Environment.” The film explores how Senator Reid paved the way for what is dubbed a “lowercase green new deal” in the American West, using power in novel avenues to resolve water disputes with respect for Native Americans, protect wilderness and endangered species, and facilitate a just transition to renewable energy. The documentary was co-produced by KCET and the Laboratory for Environmental Narrative Strategies at University of California Los Angeles. The team anticipates publishing a book about Reid’s practical environmental politics, which offer a hopeful way forward for the nation.
