The History Pub presents a talk by award-winning author Donald Worster, titled “China as the New Ecological Civilization”. The event, co-sponsored by the UO Department of History and the Lane County History Museum, will be held on Monday February 10th from 7:00-8:30pm at the Viking Braggot Southtowne Pub on Willamette Street. Doors open at 6:00pm. The event is free and open to the public. Food and drinks will be provided.
Dr. Donald Worster is a distinguished author and regarded as one of the founders of and leading figures in the field of environmental history. His work focuses on the changing perception of nature, the rise of conservation and environmentalism, and the impact of the natural world on human society. For the past two decades, he has lectured extensively in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Central America, as well as throughout North America, and his writings have been translated into six languages. He’s been the honored recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, and was named “Foreign Teacher of the Year in China” in 2018. Professor Worster was hired as a Distinguished Overseas Expert by China’s Foreign Expert Bureau and been a member of the faculty of the School of History, Renmin University of China, since 2012.
