Gerhardt is an author, activist, academic, and journalist. She is currently a Visiting Scholar at the University of California at Berkeley and Associate Professor of Film and German Studies at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. She also serves as Associate Editor of ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and the Environment.
